Yet again for the past few days I have had no net. Gross! Then today I got an SMS from Telkom to say they had re-tested the line and found it free of defects. They requested that I transmit an ‘F’ if it was still faulty. The ‘F’ I transmitted was filled with meaning.  As I pressed the ‘send’ button, however, the internet returned.  That very instant. What the …?  Is somebody trying to mess with my mind?

Anyway, I have spent an interesting morning going through a meeting with a surgeon and then all the paperwork for a hospital admission. Something to look forward to in the New Year …

On 9th when I am due for being carved, all I will have to do is breeze in and relax. Apparently I need a chunk of what looks like a naartjie bag to be inserted into a small incision below the navel, and then stapled in place inside to stop the bulges from bulging. Chances are it will have to go both sides. If things go well, I will be driving again in three days and able to cycle after two weeks. I hope things go well, then!

He didn’t say how long to horse-riding – hopefully the same.

Why do they call these things hernias? Surely in my case it would be a hisnia?

Amazing how things just come ‘right’ and then we look like idiots! (Good to see an old LetterD around.)

Sorry to hear about your hisnia. Will have you in my thoughts and prayers.

I had endless problems with Vodacom once and found that ICasa (with an ‘I’ NOT an ‘e’) was a wonderful help. They got to the root of the problem for me. Perhaps you should contact them if you are paying monthly for poor service.

Oh dear – did you decide to send the F anyway :-) It should be a hisnia too, all the best with your pre-op and all that !

You have the right to remain silent - but please don't!
