Though ‘Urban’ is to do with towns,
Or also of a city,
And buildings which have ups and downs
(Which often is a pity),
You’d think with ‘ity’ added on,
To give ‘urbanity’,
Resultant word reflects upon
Some grouped humanity;
But no! The term thus changed is not
In such a way defined:
Instead the word that you have got
Has meaning more refined!
You take ‘URBAN’, add a ‘D’,
DURBAN is the place you’d be;
Actually, I’d rather not –
So, let’s leave it in a yacht!

Funny indeed.. Brilliant! Say we flotsam and jetsam the whole thing eh? 😉

Your pix brought back many happy memories. Hanging with the round-the-world yachties – I believe they are no longer located at Point Yacht club??

And not a single turban in site! 😉

I wish I could find a turban worn in Durban – that would be fun! As it is, some simply wear those rubbish-bag outfits, or those white doily things on their heads.

Now you’ve got me humming ‘Red sails …’
The knightly Ben would probably be miffed at me wanting out! But these days the city centre really needs a ‘sh’ in place of the ‘c’ on the city bit.

Lovely pics and for the ditty I will keep quiet in Cape Town, as a too big mouth may make me a clown.

I “akshully” love D’urban. Wish I lived on that side of the world along the coast 😆

Very clever little ditty, Col. I was also thinking today that Durban is D’urban. 🙂 Love your gorgeous photos.

Trouble is that one can no longer add ‘ity’ to Durban’s urban – not much refinement to be found in the city now!
