DEAD CHEAP

 ‘Lovely secluded home,’ said the departing visitor, ‘but… do take care.’

 Burt snorted. ‘Those messy murders did me a real favour, actually. Brought the price right down.’

 ‘Utterly gruesome!’

 ‘Hope whoever it was tries their luck with me.  I haven’t forgotten Special Forces training.’

 The thing in the cellar grinned with hideous anticipation.
