I have brought side view’s ‘Comfort Food’ theme to within my comfort zone of causing severe discomfort in readers:
Sure, chocolate is comforting
To have beneath one’s belt,
But when you lie in it, the thing
Is, that it tends to melt.
Then, jelly is quite yielding stuff,
And made with little trouble,
But it’s not comf’table enough,
Because it tends to wobble.
You often hear how good it is
To land @rse in the butter –
But cleaning off is quite a biz –
Its greasiness is utter!
They say that soup is comfort food,
And rest in that appears
To be okay, if in the mood
For cauliflower ears!
It lacks the proper image, though,
And so quite few would stoop
To use the stuff to rest in, so
They’d end up in the soup!
To take one’s ease on mushy peas
Might not be what you wish;
Though yielding, everyone agrees
They are inclined to squish.
But mealie-meal, made nice and stiff,
Provides a yielding base;
You’ll know you’ve undercooked it if
You vanish without trace.
Relaxing back in candy-floss,
Though cloud-like, could be tricky,
For, if you choose on that to doss,
You will get really sticky.
I think that I would rather not
Recline on what I’m fed;
Of all the foods, I don’t know what
Could match a chair or bed!

Candyfloss is so cotton woolly, if it weren’t for the stickiness it would be ideal… but you’d probably end up covered in ants – and, haha, with ants in your pants!
