REALLY AWFUL CARDBOARD CUTOUT

To call things cardboard is disdained
By businesses who use it,
Preferring, it must be explained
(So as not to abuse it),
That proper names should be retained
Used by those who produce it,
And you will earn expressions pained
If ever you refuse it.

 Though paper is the name for bags;
The brown type or whatever;
It’s paperboard you put round fags,
Should you wish to be clever;
While fibreboard gives other tags
The cardboard one to sever,
With ‘corrugated’ (zigs and zags) –
So call it ‘cardboard’ never!

 On playing cards, you’ll find it’s jarred
For cardboard to be quoted,
As such name is completely barred –
For ‘card stock’ they have voted!
(Card-bored-to tears, it wasn’t hard
To make you, so I’ve noted;
I’d rather be ‘a proper card!’
Than be as ‘on bored’ floated!)
