NO WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY

There’s a window on my router that lights up when there’s a line,
And just lately it is doing little work;
For that little indication that my internet is fine
Has started most abominably to shirk;
It will light up for a minute and I try with greatest glee
Some emails to download, and then a blog or so to see,
But before I can press ‘enter’ on a post to you from me,
In blankly lightless state it’s back to lurk.

I have now got posts all lined up, and with pictures by the score,
While that wretched light’s completely on the blink,
Or rather, doesn’t even blink, but stays blank more and more –
It comes on, but then it goes off in a wink;
And from Telkom I elicit not the slightest sort of sense;
No explanation’s furnished which will act in their defence;
Those few I’ve spoken to all seem particularly dense –
So my Christmas Spirit’s gone right down the sink!
