COMMUNITY-JUDGED TRIFEXTRA POST
For your prompt this week, we are giving you the first 33 words of a story. You need to complete it with 33 of your own words.
“There’s nothing cute about it,” he said. The register of his voice indicated decision more so than discussion.
She disagreed heartily and privately, staring past his head and out the window behind him. //– Weekend tourists were filling the street, most looking attractive in the short shorts and skimpy tops he found so repulsive.
“Your flock don’t wear them, though,” she commented soothingly.
“What’s left of them!”
I am asking readers to vote. Not necessarily for mine, though, unless you truly feel it is the best!
Thanks so much for linking up to Trifextra. Remember, this weekend’s entries are being judged by the Trifecta community, so I hope you were able to cast your votes. (There’s still just over two hours left if not!) Winners will be announced with the Monday post. Hope to see you back then.

I commented yesterday, or I thought I did. Oh no, my comments are disappearing! It was a bit long, but basically in like that she seems to be condescending to him a bit,. It sounds like she likes to those short shorts (maybe ars them herself), but is trying to soothe his hurt feelings.

This was a great and unexpected use of the prompt. I have a feeling I am going to be surprised a lot today. I loved the petulance that is clearly implied …

ooohhh – “What’s left of them.” jab, jab, jab – LOL! Nice job!

I like the soothing line. She says she thinks the short shorts are attractive, as though she wears them when he’s not looking. Then has the balls to soothe him.

You did express a lot in this short response. He does seem a touch judgmental and sour for his vocation, doesn’t he. His companion is very compassionate and gentle. Liked this one!

‘Twixt generations, could well be. I don’t think his heart is too warm, though!

I see it as a heartwarming conversation between generations. Smile.

I really felt like this was a grandfather and granddaughter and tribe meant “generation”

Could be taken that way, although I did have the preacher/priest more in mind. Think the ‘what’s left of them’ fits better that way.

His ‘flock’ is no doubt dwindling. Interesting …

probably the worst place a person of the cloth could be . . . where so few wear any cloth at all. 🙂

Haha! Unless they come to realize that moral worth should not be measured by the amount of clothing worn.

He’s driven them away by his conservatism? Unanswered questions are intriguing.

That is, indeed, the inference I was aiming at.

Thanks! These are wonderful exercises in getting a lot of information across in fewest possible words. Amazing, when one thinks of it, how just a single word like ‘flock’can bring a whole scene into context.
