As usual, I find that I can answer all the PPD questions quite easily.
What’s that? Having the right answer is also important? Oh dear.

 1. What does “to butterfly” means in culinary term?

When tossing pancakes or anything fried in butter, the flipping makes the coating of butter fly. 

2. What are traditional peperonata’s main ingredients?

This could be fish and chips wrapped in the Sunday peper in traditonal style, or anything that isn’t a row of pepers. Peper is a sneezy condiment when you make it do although short of peas. 

3. What is a whoopie pie?

A pie with a filling of beans and cabbage. It gives the same effect as a whoopie cushion, but done naturally and the real thing. 

4. Mission, Manzanillo, Sevillano and Ascolano are varieties of which fruit?

*seizes on Seville as the only familiar word in the bunch* Barber of Seville … no we don’t want opera. Seville oranges? Peeling oranges is a Mission, if a Man overeats oranges he will be an ill ou, and the word Ascolano has a kind of orange tinge to the sound of it.  Make it oranges! 

5. What are traditional financier’s main ingredients and why are they called financiers?

Shylock was a financier, and from that it would be a pound of flesh? The main ingredients of financiers are money and extortionate rates – yes I know this has to be on food, but that’s what cooks one’s goose. Actually, a financier is a fancier with in in to make it fancier. 

6. Where does lemongrass originate from?

The lawn under lemon trees. The grass gets impregnated with juice from the falling fruit. 

7. Where did Swiss rolls originate from and what are the main ingredients of a Swiss roll?

I suppose there is no way they came from Switzerland? Probably from outer Mongolia. Ingredients of a roll down a Swiss mountainside, of course, are panic and despair. 

8. How many “eyes” does a coconut have?

When I look at the dessicated form, which is the only one I know, it doesn’t look back so I can’t count them. 

9. What is “crimini” more commonly known as?

The Mafia, or if you take it as a mini crime it would be shoplifting. 

10. What is the cooking method that combines stewing, steaming and roasting called?

Overkill, or incineration.
