BLOGGING A-Z CHALLENGE – APRIL 24 – U: THE VERSE-ATILE UMBRELLA

U’s the next letter the challenge to gain;
UMBRELLA’s the subject I’ll take;
Up, they protect from the sun or the rain;
Unopened, can walking-sticks make.

Used as a weapon, they will have a bash;
Unbending, they can give a poke;
Under attack, with a prod or a smash,
Undoubtedly would be no joke!

Ultimate safeguard for lion, or for bear –
Uplift it if they should attack:
Urgently open and close it right there –
Uncertainty will drive them back!

Utilise one as a swordstick instead:
Untwist, and the blade is exposed;
Update as gun: ‘Got you covered!’ is said –
Unreal, as the brolly’s still closed!
