WRITING CHALLENGE: JEALOUSY

The Trifextra Writing Challenge Week Sixteen:

‘This weekend’s Trifextra is the first of its kind. This weekend we only need 32 words from you, because we’re giving you the 33rd. Your challenge is to write anything you want, in whichever form you please, so long as your response is exactly 33 words and includes the word “…”.’

Jane thought her heart would break seeing her Alan lovingly hugging the gorgeous blonde. ‘Older than him,’ she thought bitterly.

He spotted her with joyful surprise. ‘Jane, darling! How wonderful! Meet my mother.’

You can tell why I didn’t mention the key word ‘mother’ upfront!

  2. Oooh. I can’t decide whether to believe him or not. He could always be a very quick-thinking liar. Probably not, though. It’s probably really Mom. Probably.

Ha ha ha ha! My dad’s mother, my grandmother, was a real looker who insisted that my mother, beautiful but certain she was mousy, pretend they were sisters when they lunched downtown. So this story has real resonance for me personally. =D Well played.

Still some time left. In the ‘option’ box where the comment is left, don’t choose ‘Open ID’ (which I think is also the default) but choose ‘WordPress’. Then you just put in your ‘arkenaten’ and it fills in the rest of the WP addy.

Brilliant, but one word short. Why not start ‘To argue…’ and then post it with a link to Trifextra!

Arguing religion is driving me mad,
If Jesus comes back, I think I’ll be glad,
But if he’s telling lies, then oh brother,
He’s going to get a belt from his Mother.
