The Trifextra Writing Challenge Week Sixteen:

‘This weekend’s Trifextra is the first of its kind. This weekend we only need 32 words from you, because we’re giving you the 33rd. Your challenge is to write anything you want, in whichever form you please, so long as your response is exactly 33 words and includes the word “…”.’

Jane thought her heart would break seeing her Alan lovingly hugging the gorgeous blonde. ‘Older than him,’ she thought bitterly.

He spotted her with joyful surprise. ‘Jane, darling! How wonderful! Meet my mother.’

You can tell why I didn’t mention the key word ‘mother’ upfront!

definitely works for the theme 😉

good way to assess the man, how does he treat his mother

  2. Oooh. I can’t decide whether to believe him or not. He could always be a very quick-thinking liar. Probably not, though. It’s probably really Mom. Probably.

  3. karen says:

Ha ha ha ha! My dad’s mother, my grandmother, was a real looker who insisted that my mother, beautiful but certain she was mousy, pretend they were sisters when they lunched downtown. So this story has real resonance for me personally. =D Well played.

Jealous of the mother! LOL! I’ll bet she feels dumb now 🙂

  6. Thanks for linking up with Trifextra. I love your fun take on the prompt. Hope to see you back again soon!

  7. All’s well that ends well, eh?

  8. Diane Turner says:

What a great take on the prompt. Mother, meet Jane. Love it. Nice work.

  9. Tara R. says:

Wicked twist at the end… nicely done.

  10. Imelda says:

Jealous indeed. The man should stay away from her, if he still can. 😉
    Nice take.

  11. evea192 says:

“Meet my Mother” LMAO!!!! Well done Col.

  12. adinparadise says:

Excellent, Col. Love the happy twist in the tail. 😉

Been to the link, left details, but it says it can;t verify my open ID? Shrugs…never mind..

Still some time left. In the ‘option’ box where the comment is left, don’t choose ‘Open ID’ (which I think is also the default) but choose ‘WordPress’. Then you just put in your ‘arkenaten’ and it fills in the rest of the WP addy.

  16. 68ghia says:

A challenge well met Col 😉

  17. colonialist says:

Brilliant, but one word short. Why not start ‘To argue…’ and then post it with a link to Trifextra!

  18. arkenaten says:

Arguing religion is driving me mad,
If Jesus comes back, I think I’ll be glad,
But if he’s telling lies, then oh brother,
He’s going to get a belt from his Mother.
