To be less foolish how I yearn –
Some things I simply never learn!
I’m now as crotchety as hell,
My voice is quavery, as well –
Some work of note I did all day
Has simply gone and went away!
For reasons that are quite absurd,
Notation programmes, unlike Word,
Don’t do an automatic save,
So if to keep the work you crave,
You have to tell it so; if not
No trace of it you still have got –
I’d proudly finished latest bout
When suddenly all lights went out!
I wish I’d used the laptop for
The writing of my music score;
At least the battery’d carry on,
And all my work would not have gone!
So now I simply have to start
To rewrite that whole wretched part.

From another recent munching visit – this time to the Yacht Club – I have this picture as my first of the grandkids taking an exploratory stroll together. I can think of the perfect caption:

  2. Marco says:

Not good at all. I can hear some people say, “Öh but why don’t you save your work on a regular basis?” Do they know what it is to get carried away in the moment?

  5. Sweet photo!

I’ve been caught out so many times, I now automatically save after every paragraph. The most I lose these days is a paragraph.

Lovely photo of the little cutie pies. I can see that little R takes her ‘big sister’ role very seriously. Hope you get your lost work up to speed again without too much heartache.
