It seems I am quite sadly slow
Some blogging things to get to know –
I wondered why by far the most
Of blogs I follow, when they post,
Don’t generate an email note –
In fact, it really got my goat!
Transpires if you click the top
To do the ‘Follow’, you can’t stop
At that point if you want advice
Of posts: you have to ‘Follow’ twice!
By scrolling right down on the right
You ‘Follow blogs via email’ sight,
Click ‘Follow’ and, when it complies,
To click on ‘Manage’ one then tries,
From there you can select how you
Wish your advices to come through;
I confidently do suppose
That everyone about this knows,
But just in case some others here
Are dim as I am, thought I’d share!

Yeah, I use the email and blogroll method. Once a month I try to go through the followers so I make sure I get around to everyone. Thanks for the poet’s version.

I hate getting a lot of email. Consequently I don’t ‘follow’. I prefer doing the rounds using my blogroll which I had to update recently as it had grown far too fat (like its owner, lol).

One of the reasons I don’t like a blogroll is that, as part of one’s permanent page, it can contribute to slowing down.

For a second, I thought I’d been given the opportunity to boast
Because I knew a bit better tip than the one in your post
But I see below, in the comments that were made
That ghia, for all intents and purposes, came to your aid

Doing a tutorial is certainly an effective way of getting people to show one even better ways!

I will go back into my dashboard and see what I can learn from your cleverly written suggestions. I think I’m following all points, but I must admit some blogs disappear on me from time to time. Consistency seems to be hard won. Thanks for the prompts!

Even so, it seems that my rhymed bit without what was added in comments was not accurate! One way to learn how to do something better is to find a way of doing it in the first place, and blog it!

I follow too many blogs to make use of the email function, poor BB will be throttled if she buzzes me for every update. But I do like the reader … and one of these fine days when I have nothing better to do, I’m actually going to create a blog roll on my blog itself.

I think you should start writing user manuals. I’d far prefer to read them in your prose than the boring stuff they usually have us sift through.

I just go to the reader after I’ve followed a post and change it in there – much easier!
But I still don’t have a blog roll 😉

All I get in Reader that way is latest posts!
(But I see now that one gets the list by clicking ‘Edit’!)
*hits forehead with heel of hand*
A Blog Roll, or list of followers, is found on Dashboard by clicking ‘Blogs’ under the number of followers shown.

I can see who follows me – what I need to manage is to get them on my blog itself 😉
Major mission!!

Why do you want them there? It can be done via the ‘links’ setup, but it seems the concept of a blogroll has been replaced with various other ideas.

I’ve managed without it for this long, a while longer’s not going to break the bank 😉

What I’m asking is, do you really need it at all? I got rid of mine as unecessary.

Don’t need it no, but it looks so cool when I see the “community” 😉

You can do that by calling a gathering of your followers! 🙂

Thanks Col. But where I was a bit confused with the whole thing in the past I am now TOTALLY confused!

Oh good! Nothing like doing a complete job!
Actually, thanks to 68ghia, I see that if you click the top left W circle to get Reader, and then click ‘Edit’ on ‘Blogs I Follow’ on the right, the list comes up with options for getting emails for posts and/or comments.
