REALLY REALLY AWFUL ROSES ARE RED

Roses are Red, Violets are Blue

Roses are red,

Violets are blue;

Blue rose instead

Would never do.

Roses are red,

Violets are blue;

Red violets in bed

Named ‘reds’ would be, true?

Rosie’s are red,

Violet’s are blue –

Hot, or cold, fed,

Yours would be, too!

Rose: his are read;

Vile hits are blue –

Rose books not dead

Though critics, ‘Boo!’

Rose has a red dilly-dilly,

Violet’s are blue;

(Though Rose has one dilly-dilly,

Violet has two.)

Row, sirs! Oar, Ed!

Vile, it’s arb loo!

(Know what that said …?

More than I do!)

‘She bath’d with roses red, and violets blew,’

As Spencer writ, born fifteen fifty two,

‘She bath’d her brest’ with them, is what he knew;

Sir Edmond, thus, the credit must go to!
