‘This weekend we are playing another type of word game with you. Below are photos from the 33rd page of one of our very favorite books, Elizabeth Strout’s Olive Kitteridge. What we want you to do is to scour the page (click to enlarge), choose 33 words, and reshape those words into a piece of your own. Your piece does not have to tell an entire story. We just want to see what you can do with this particular word bank. Punctuation is up to you. Use whatever you need, whether or not it appears in the photos.’
Kevin discovered the child hanging in the kitchen, wrapped in a pink blanket.
Was it the woman who had hung her there?
He touched her and felt, with relief, comforting signs of life.

That is one thing these tales certainly are – short! Not as short as the six-word ones, of course.

A nice scene built around those 33 words of yours. Well written. Could have been grisly but, is not. Thanks for that ending. Phew! 🙂

Glad you approve of the reassurance at the end – it seems most people wanted doom and gloom in this piece.

Wow! You wrote an even flowing story with the limited words. Nice one.

Thanks! Done this way, though, it does leave it looking a bit sparse.

Fortunately, that would have been a very short cessation of breathing! 🙂
