The caption competition was shelved for a while because the vote on how to do the voting ended up as follows:
As before with names shown against captions and voting 1,2,3 in comments.
37.5% (6 votes)
Names shown against captions but voting done by anonymous poll.
6.25% (1 votes)
No names shown against captions, but voting done 1.2.3 in comments.
18.75% (3 votes)
Anonymous captions and anonymous voting by poll.
37.5% (6 votes)
Total Votes: 16
It occurred to me, though, that if I combined the votes for the different components I would arrive at a majority decision. Thus:
Names shown against captions 7
No names shown against captions 9
Voting 1,2,3 in comments 9
Anonymous poll 7
Right, so now I have to get to work listing the captions anonymously, and then ask for voting in comments … Unless somebody changes the poll!
You mean watch this space?

Bwahahaha!!! Classic – voting on how to vote! Trust you, Col! Where can I go and tip the balance to 17 votes (which will give you, by division, digital fractions that don’t come to an end)?

Looking forward to the outcome Col 😉
Whatever you decide – since it is, after all, your competition!!!

I’ll see how this goes, although if it proves too labour-intensive I may do my own thing!

Great example of how we do NOT all see things alike. 😀
I think your plan to combine like responses is the way to go.
