WORDMERGE – REALLY AWFUL RHYME?

FLOWTIDE

 FLOWTIDE

The roogly rocks are hid today

Beneath linecreeping curluespray

Which follows topplefore display

To surgemerge up the sand,

Rushwashingly retreat, and then

Reforming flowful force for when

Another reachtry comes, again

Gropegrasping at the land.

(An experiment in drawing a picture with words invented or formed from what the fourth line has inspired me to call ‘wordmerge’.  The question is whether playing with the words in this way actually does give a more vivid image or impact than a more conventional description would provide?)

I like this very much… who needs a dictionary anyway… the words give their own meaning…

Your rhyme reminded me of Lewis Carroll’s ‘Jabberwocky’. I like it very much. 🙂

Quite marvellous! The “surgemerge” of words reminds me a bit of the Uwinese on
Ogdens’ Nut Gone Flake by the Small Faces

I suppose they are all a form of neologism, but ‘roogly’ is the only true one. ‘Wordmerge’ has the advantage of being understood without a lot of people needing to look it up!

  7. I think it is wonderful and a little bit ee cummings 🙂 the merging of the words is very effective – like the sea merging with the sand and land – terrific stuff!

Oh good, some new words with vowels in, no abbreviations and meanings to investigate, outferret, and discuss.
