REALLY AWFUL PROMPT FROM NAPOWRIMO

“And now, the prompt. (As always, the prompt is optional). Today I challenge you to write a poem that uses at least five of the following words:

 owl
generator
abscond
upwind
squander
clove
miraculous
dunderhead
cyclops
willowy
mercurial
seaweed
gutter
non-pareil
artillery
salt
curl
ego
rodomontade
elusive
twice
ghost
cheese
cowbird
truffle
svelte
quahog
bilious”

OK, how about all 28?  And who says it has to make much sense?  I had to add 44 words to them to do it, though.

Oh, how miraculous the prompt this gutter dunderhead –

This non-pareil elusive ghost – has offered us instead;

Our generator of ideas wants us to squander time

In bilious ego-building rodomontade all in rhyme!

Must owl abscond upwind with a svelte cowbird, willowy?

Or cyclops curl a truffle, which becomes artillery?

The whole thing’s twice absurd, for qwahog served with salt and cheese,

And some mercurial seaweed, with a clove, would never please!

  2. Nice take on this prompt. I love the third line. And I’m still going with, we’re both really brave!

Well done, Col. You’re always upwind of the challenge, and cyclops it on the dunderhead. :)

Writing an awful rhyme is bad enough and to use all of those words would require a literary genius, even if it doesn’t really make sense ;)
