The Valley of a Thousand Hills

We have shown our visitor a number of sights over the past week, and on Sunday the Byrne Valley and Valley of a Thousand Hills were on the list.  I was rather pleased with the picture I took of the latter, so I have written a poem to go with it.  Hopefully, this one isn’t in the Really Awful Rhyme category, but fits the Earth Day nature/pastoral theme for Day 22 on NaPoWriMo.

The Valley of a Thousand Hills:
This vista of delight
Breathtakingly one’s spirit fills,
And its tranquillity instils,
When viewed from lofty height,
The fancy that the hills must be
Outstretching to infinity
In beauteous sublimity
Beyond the range of sight.

An outlook of a thousand shades,
Nor, ever, quite the same,
Each mood-shift one of many grades,
At height of day or when light fades,
When dimmed or when aflame;
In misty moonlight glow empearled,
Or spring-shades verdantly unfurled,
This fairyland of Nature’s world
Deserves undying fame.

    Very awesome photo and poem.

I remember asking my Mom once, where the Valley of the Thousand Hills was (while we were on holiday) and she said: “Kat, you are looking at it. You are in it.” It obviously was a very embarrassing moment for me. 🙂
