Weekly Photo Challenge: In the Background

A fearsome sight, this armoured car at a spot overlooking Valley of 1000 hills:

But wait; what’s that in the background, and who are those figures visible through the hatch?

This puts a rather different slant on it!

Great job Col… Love cute kids.. 😀

  4. Colline says:

The kids look like they are having such fun. What a contrast to the havoc those tanks wreaked when they were in use.

  5. Oh, lovely! They must have had so much fun, Col!

    Imagine those things in wartime…
    Cool pics Col 😉

Similar ones are still used by security companies. I prefer this role!

        Is it a Ratel?
My American dude owes his life to thise things – apparently it’s the best troop carrier in the world. The safest in the case of an IED road explosion. We South Africans we great once upon a time…

        • colonialist says:

Similar, but I don’t think it is an actual Ratel which, if I remember rightly, has the pairs of wheels at the back closer to one another, and more of a V-shape on the body to deflect land mine explosions.

  7. Very good pictures for the challenge 🙂
