(Late entry for the SidevieW weekend theme)
How can you go wrong when you’re doing it right?
With driving in UK or SA you might!
Because in these places one sticks to the left,
Unless of existence you would be bereft!
And doing it right at a banquet can mean,
If you’re to create the politest of scene,
You don’t guzzle all on your plate that you see –
For, doing it right, something left there must be!
On Sunday, House and Garden Show
Showed us some things we didn’t know,
And one we hardly knew at all –
How gard’ning drives one up the wall!
This Durban system comes complete
With pots and frame for them to seat,
And pump and pipes; so water, when
It trickles down, ’s sent up again!
But this takes things a bit too far,
To have a lawn upon your car!

Love the car! Does it come with Really Awful Rhymes?

Well, it did have the last two lines of that Really Awful Rhyme all to itself!

Great post Col, would love a wall of plants but suspect they would need a lot of water during a Cape South Easter season.

Thanks! The beauty of the circulating system is that they can be watered constantly in need.

I think those wall gardens are going to become much more prevalent as the water resources shrink – interesting concept!!

They also cater for city dwellers with little or no planting or potplant space.

I love the lawn upon the car … and your poetry.

That gives a new definition to a “green car”. I wonder how good it is towards the environment… 😉

Not very. It carries extra weight, and the streamlining isn’t as good!

Very clever awful rhyme, Col. That’s a magnificent view over to the stadium. I do hate to waste food, so usually eat it all, whether it’s right or not. Seems a silly rule to me. Love that feature wall; definitely right up my street. 🙂

Fortunately, there aren’t many banquets of the formal type which might abide by such customs.
The walls are certainly a solution in over-urbanised areas.

I do love those plant walls.

The large-scale ones are spectacular! Only downside is that they tend to be rather expensive.

Reblogged this on Kate Shrewsday and commented:
Col: one of my favourite bloggers in the whole entire world. His day job is writing, and he’s a great composer, but he still finds time for really awful rhymes which generally make my day. This man makes words work for their living. Enjoy the latest episode in the Shrewsday Reblog Festival.

Well… I’ve seen pics of houses covered like the car – in Ireland I think they were. I, personally, like a wall with spaces left for plants.

Great car. Fun poem. Doing it right means something left on the plate . . . not chocolate, I hope.

soup – car, what’s the difference?

Well, a car can land you in the soup, and in the days of roadhouses one’s soup could land in the car, so there isn’t much, really!

and what you do in the car can also land you in the soup
