Some stairs attracted stares –
Those leading to the Lindo,
With doors reflecting glares,
Instead of from a window.
One wonders, can I mention,
In times gone by before
Has quite so much attention
Been focussed on a door?
The panels blandly standing
Gave nothing much away –
It needed an expanding
Transparency display.
Brass plates stood staidly smirking
Embellishment without,
No handle was there working –
Can’t handle it, no doubt.
And breathlessly the people
Keep gazing at the sight
All day, and then a heap’ll
Still gawk throughout the night.
The miracle awaited,
And watched for, near and far,
Was when those doors created
A change into ajar!
Became ajar; then open;
And Catherine the Great
Gave all one could be hopin’ –
It was so worth the wait!

Coming from Australia and having watched the big contingent from every one of our TV stations waiting at that door for a fortnight, I would say that our large enough [and in a way, understandable] Republican numbers don’t have a leg to stand on for quite awhile 🙂 ! OK, tho’ not British born, am both a romantic and a Monarchist, at least for the ‘home country’!! And di wonder how many ‘practice runs’ dear William had with the baby capsule > Range Rover to do it THAT fast and perfectly 😀 !!

Please forgive me col but I think we have had an over exposure to the baby by now. So I cannot share this hype. All I can say is IF he ever becomes king it will
be of a different England to the one now. I agree with one of the queen’s friend who was not really excited – everybody has babies. I will avoid news programs for a while now.

A new baby is a baby,
No maybe,
I hope it is normal like all babies should be,
and as a prince
Loyalty to his people in furure will be.
