Grandkids now can join their forces
When they go out-riding horses
And though too seldom to instil
A fast-developed riding skill,
Each time they go, they’re more at ease –
Their progress, thus, is bound to please;
And they adore the process so
That far more often we should go.

I adore horses but haven’t ridden in years. Not that I would call myself a rider.
There was a stables right behind where we lived in Ramsay . The road was a cul de sac very much like “Cherry Blossom Close” and as kids we would sneak through the fence to go be with the horses.

A rider is someone who can successfully stay on the back of a horse!
They are wonderful creatures, especially when one can learn to think from their viewpoint as taught in ‘natural horsemanship’.

Love the shots, Col! It’s been some time since I’ve been on a horse . . . and longer still since my last pony ride. 😀

I still enjoy riding, but mainly prefer a fairly sedate pace!

Oh, I loved riding ponies and horses when I was young. But we never wore helmets. Funny. I guess our heads were harder back then… 😉

High on the list of things not to do when riding horses is to fall off. Staying on board has always been a priority of mine!

The last time I road a horse, it took me through a thorn bush and ripped my jacket to shreds. For some reason it wouldn’t go right when I tried to direct it so you’ll forgive me if I’m not as keen as the grand kids are about horses 😕

Things like that add to the interest of the enterprise!
Once I rode a very spirited horse which spooked at something and galloped off with me down an almost sheer slope and then across a particularly busy road. That was especially interesting.
