This shot has always given me a feeling of infinity.

Hello Old Colonialist.
Hi! I have missed you – but there still doesn’t seem to be a castle to track you down to.
I’m thinking of taking up my pen (or keyboard) again. Is WordPress the best place to do so ?
In my experience, yes. I have a Blogger site too, but attracting readers there seems a major task.
I thought it had that extra little something.
That is a very good shot, Col. Almost like a painting.
Has a sort of surreal quality as there is not a sign of any animal life in the shot.
True, and something that hadn’t struck me until you mentioned it.
Mmmm. I can imagine myself sitting there–just pondering about infinity. Lovely.
It is certainly an outlook inviting such ponderings!
Wow. Me too. We certainly don’t have anything like that here, Col…
You do have any number of scenes which may be different but have equal ‘WOW’ factor.
Ah, yes – the magnificent Drakensberg
They really are.
That a a truly gorgeous shot Col and I know I am infinitely fascinated. Where was this?
I think it was from Little Switzerland.
Great photo for the challenge, Col. 🙂
I am pleased you like it. I was doubtful about the fence, at first, but then I reasoned that it lends itself to the theme because it doesn’t really provide a true barrier.
Shouldn’t you be in bed? It must be a great party. 🙂
what a fabulous set of colours there are in this photograph. Beautiful
Thanks! I think part of the fascination is that they are relatively subtle.
OMG what a view!
I find it does have something which draws the eye in …
That is truly beautiful Col.

I love the views of the mountains in South Africa – they always give me a sense of God’s grandeur.
And I can see why, Col, it seems like there are no boundaries and you can keep on going, investigating, traveling.
The infinate beauty of wide open natural spaces…perfect for the challenge 🙂
I agree with you! it’s like a desert. No one there just nature.
I can see why, it is beautiful.
and I can see why… it is truly beautiful and very apt for the challenge…
Quite a beautiful shot Col.

. . . although the fence kind of goes counter to that . . .
Don’t think so – the fence goes off sideways and one looks at the vistas beyond, symbolically taking one past confinement.
Love this…there’s beauty in so much barrenness… 🙂
Barren has its own fascination – as even more fully demonstrated in the Ginger William post below featuring the Fish River Canyon.
It does seem to go on and on . . . “to infinity AND beyond!” 😀
The other side of forever? 🙂
