A Dubious Question

A Dubious Question

A thing I’m dubious about
Is ‘dubious’ as theme,
Although there can be little doubt
It popular may seem.

With ‘Dubi-dubi-du’-bious,
In Frank Sinatra style,
Night Stranglers to make furious
At Halloween, a while?

Then, ‘Do-be, or not do-be’ -us,
Is Shakespeare’s little lot –
A question posed to make a fuss
When head-cold you have got!

To speak of which, I do have one:
Was dubious I’d live;
Though loads of Anti-Bs aren’t fun
At least more life they give!

I should consume such things before,
And not self-medicate,
But taking them I do abhor,
So left it rather late.

But though from off our mortal coil
Due, be us, that we go,
Such ABs still the scythe will foil,
And leave us yet on show.

Dew, bee is sure on plants to find
To block his pollen route,
Be sure, though, that bees do not mind,
As through the dew they shoot.

By keeping in a boring rut
I avoid temptation:
Dubious I may well be, but
Not my reputation!

  1. Lots of people down with some malady or another. Hope you’re feeling better.

Love the word-play here. I don’t know of anyone more adept at this kind of thing… 🙂

  2. The Asian says:

A great poem as usual. Hope you get better soon!

  3. How many plays on one word can one make, Col?
    Let me count the ways.
Masterly. If that is a word.

  4. adeeyoyo says:

Too, too clever Col! May be time to make inversions into revisions, if you so desire?

  5. I suggest a lie down in a darkened room

  6. adinparadise says:

  12. misswhiplash says:

That writing was so very good
    and was completely understood.
You have a cold, now that, is sad
I hope that it is not too bad.
The AB, s should do the trick
Then you will no longer be feeling sick
in meantime rest awhile your head
To keep you warm, tucked up in bed.
Get better soon , and get you well
Then another tale you will tell
