I know that this movie is a classic but I still have never watched it 😕

Give it a go some time. You may well be disappointed because part of the magic consists of the original associations.

It was amazing, particularly when one considers the limitations in force when it was made.

It made a particular impression on me. It was also, by the way, the first movie I ever went to unaccompanied..

It made a massive impression – plus being the first one in colour I had seen in the tiny town we lived in at the time.

Indeed! I saw a bit of trivia that they were originally intended to be silver, and then they decided red would be better for the Glorious Technicolor!

Well I was in Grade 5 so would have been ten years old. I guess back then there was no filtering at the theaters. i actually sat through two showings. It was in an old theater in Montreal and the screen was behind big heavy drapes, when they pulled apart, the screen was from ceiling to floor. Sitting there, a poor girl from the slums, watching a movie,in colour, with songs and music, in a theatre, It was one of the most magical moments of my life.
