Silence is Golden?

Fifty years ago, on 30th November, a certain event took place which is going to impact heavily on us over the next few days.  There will, therefore, probably be a marked frightening town scare-city of Colonialist posts, visits and comments until dust has settled some time next week.

Reception

Friends and relations have an urge
All of a sudden to converge,
On our scene by car or plane –
It is going to be insane!
And we can quite clearly see
Quiet weekend it will not be,
But should be enormous fun
To catch up with everyone!

Hopefully, pictorial records of the mayhem event should become available in due course!

  1. To be happy/content/in love after 50 years is something to celebrate. I’ve known many couples who’ve been together that long (and longer or not as long) who really are quite miserable, but stay together and celebrate each anniversary as if it was a “stick-with-it” award. I’m happy for you! Truly happy! 🙂

Col and the Mrs. ~ Congratulations on such a feat! And may the sound of all those feet converging not break the local bridge! Grin. Structural vibrational humor.

P.S. Col, I’m reading my first Don Camillo! Wholeheartedly enjoying it! Thank you so much for the compliment and the recommendation. Watching one of the Don Camillo films this evening. 🙂

    Hi Col,

To answer the question you left for me: The current crop of players seems happier with a theme post on US Friday, or latest Saturday morning. That allows some thinking time. The usual deadline for entry is midnight Pacific Standard time Monday since a few players are on the US west coast (when the competition originated the theme was posted mONDAY morning, and the deadline was Monday midnight, hence Haiku Monday.) Judging and posting the winner varies a bit but we usually try to have an announcement by Wednesday to give the new host a little time to get a theme chosen and posted. (Sometimes life gets in the way of that schedule, and the group is tolerant of other schedules to compensate for that. We even had one host forget the host was hosting until the next week…;-), so do your best and we’ll submit haiku.) The rules include the 5-7-5 for haiku, and some of us are stricter on other haiku format and reference such as seasonal, cutting words or phrases, etc. The rules are yours. With the other friendly competitions I know you participate in, you probably have judging down pat.

You’ve been married for double the time that I’ve been alive! 😉
Congratulations on such a great achievement, nowadays it is rare to find a marriage that lasts for so long

Quick break from our Thanksgiving festivities here with nephews visiting. Sounds like you have ample reason to celebrate. From having read the Ginger William adventures, and seeing your humor, if she is anything like you, and I suspect she must be, I see how it was possible. Congratulations! Seems like you may have just the haiku theme right here with a nod to matrimony – longterm on your part.

Urhm, 50 years? Wow. I love to bless women for their suffering, but it’s a tag team effort! Congratulations to you both. I do envy, sincerely. I just didn’t know better, but I think I do now. But in now knowing, I now truly adore. Jealous indeed.

    Good luck with the party.
