I spent the morning taking granddaughters on an excursion down the road. Water was involved, both fresh and salty.
Considering this is the height of the Season, the area was surprisingly free of crowds.
Young 5 ½ -yr-old R is insatiable. After spending the morning thus, much of the afternoon was spent in the pool at home.

Water, so much fun! Whether jumping waves, swimming laps, dunking and diving, making sand castles, finding somewhere to piddle other than in the water and others forms of hilarity. It’s all good. I do prefer salt water to chlorinated water though!

Agree about the fun – and the chlorine!

Good for you, Grandpa. My element is definitely water, – in, on and under. I love to watch kids enjoying themselves. My children and grandchildren all went “swimming” from a very early age, and learning to swim should be a safety priority. They don’t teach littlies to swim here, and we have miles of glorious sandy beaches within easy reach..

It is sad that they are not taught from an early age there. Many unnecessary drownings happen simply because the basic ‘water safe’ skills were not imparted. Our climate helps, of course, but the kids were taught to swim almost before they could walk because of the danger of our own pool..

I am surprised that you found it quiet… what are the people not going on holiday this year ? or I wonder if all the rain has put them off….

Maybe a lot of them don’t know that our pools (out of commission in July) have been restored.

This was the first break from the rain for a while. Fun it was! And just back from doing it again, only this time I got thrown about in some waves …

I bet they said, “Thank You Grandpa!!!” (or do they have a better pet name for your irrepressible self?)

I told all of the grandchildren I was too young to be a Grandpa. They now confuse everyone by calling me by my first name!

I hope you meant indefatigable . . . although I suppose the other could loosely fit.

The insatiable fits quite tightly, actually. She can’t get enough, fatigued or not!

We were lucky. The following day was more normal, and we left while we could still move without treading on someone!

Why don’t people go to the beach anymore?.. I have noticed this at home as well, when we were kids the beaches were heaving, now there are only a few people out there, and usually only on the christmas day break.. weird..I love kids in water.. they always sleep better after spending a day in water//.. c

I think people have finally figured out they were not the only ones peeing (or worse) in the water.

Pictures I have yet to post prove that people DO go to the beach in season here. Droves!

Lots of fun going on there, Col. I hope they only piddled in the shallow end. 🙂

Actually, tiny J was very good. She announced that she wanted to ‘go’ and after finding the toilets were yukky I took her under a jetty where she duly ‘went’. The pond remained unpolluted – by them, anyway!
