A local piddling pond … er, paddling pool. Plus a tidal one.

I spent the morning taking granddaughters on an excursion down the road.  Water was involved, both fresh and salty.

Considering this is the height of the Season, the area was surprisingly free of crowds.

Brighton Beach 4 Brighton Beach 1 Brighton Beach 2 Brighton Beach 3Young 5 ½ -yr-old R is insatiable.  After spending the morning thus, much of the afternoon was spent in the pool at home.

Whoa – this post should contain a severe-attack-of-the-nostalgias warning!

  2. Water, so much fun! Whether jumping waves, swimming laps, dunking and diving, making sand castles, finding somewhere to piddle other than in the water and others forms of hilarity. It’s all good. I do prefer salt water to chlorinated water though!

  3. Good for you, Grandpa. My element is definitely water, – in, on and under. I love to watch kids enjoying themselves. My children and grandchildren all went “swimming” from a very early age, and learning to swim should be a safety priority. They don’t teach littlies to swim here, and we have miles of glorious sandy beaches within easy reach..

I am surprised that you found it quiet… what are the people not going on holiday this year ? or I wonder if all the rain has put them off….

Why don’t people go to the beach anymore?.. I have noticed this at home as well, when we were kids the beaches were heaving, now there are only a few people out there, and usually only on the christmas day break.. weird..I love kids in water.. they always sleep better after spending a day in water//.. c

Actually, tiny J was very good. She announced that she wanted to ‘go’ and after finding the toilets were yukky I took her under a jetty where she duly ‘went’. The pond remained unpolluted – by them, anyway!
