SHORT STORY 77After writing down the following, it occurred to me that it would take hardly any tweaking to turn it into another entry for the Short Story 77 Challenge on the theme of The Way.

Conversation with granddaughters today, following a detour to a printer repairer when returning home from school:

Me: We’ve been so long that granny will wonder if I’ve kidnapped you and taken you to … (trying to think where)

R (5-yr-old):  Bethlehem.

Me (startled): Why Bethlehem?

R:  You get Jesus there.

J (2-yr-old): I like cheeses in my tummy!

R (in vastly superior tone): No, not cheeses; Jesus, the man.

(She must think we need religion.)
