At least the bat and other bird gave us good practice at what to do – funny that they have suddenly started this habit. Years have gone by without any, and now three in reasonably quick succession!

is the proper word dove or dived… shone or shined…and there is another one that bugs me but I cannot think of it right now…when I remember I will ask you

Dove is not good grammar – dived should be used – and shone is the correct form.

Correction: actually, these days shined is used more often than shone with both senses. Used to be the other way round. On shoes I can accept it. I still say a sun should have shone, regardless.
