Really Awful Gatecrashing Geese in the Swim

Young R in Top 8 Gala

For Junior Primary:

Her bash at dashing through the splash

Was something else to see!

R centre -green cap.

R centre -green cap.

Her second place at freestyle

Did make us all feel proud,

Though butterfly and backstroke

Were further back in crowd.

Come on, goslings - the water's fine. Just ignore the humans and they'll go away.

‘Come on, goslings – the water’s fine. Just ignore the humans and they’ll go away.’

Egyptian geese reclaimed their ‘pond’

Towards the very end,

Although of galas they’re not fond,

They feel they should attend!

'Yes; the water's fine!'

‘Why are all these humans flapping at us?’

Move out of their way! They'll just turn round and go back again.'

‘Here comes another batch of them.  Just pop out and back in again, or else fly over their heads and land behind them!’

Gosh, how fast time goes by, seems just the other day she was learning to carpet crawl, now she’s mastering the water crawl. The geese are too funny!

  7. Congrats to your swimming star. Love the gosling gate-crashers. 🙂

Thanks – we are ever so pleased that today, on the strength of her performance to date, she is on the team representing her brand new school in competition with another.
I am still chuckling. Everyone flapped around trying to persuade them to leave, but finally just gave up!

  8. LOL… I am sure it would have been hilarious to see this in person.
    Happy WW

Absolutely brilliant, Col. How amazing is this? Very likely a once in a lifetime occurrence.
I’m sure you could submit some photos to the local paper?

I think it has become old hat. The school is known for being Egyptian geese-friendly, and when I first went there they were mingling merrily with the crowds of new youngsters on the field. When the young were younger they had two lanes of the pool devoted to their exclusive use! The school also staunchly supports CROW (Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife).
