Some of the activity over this weekend provides progress towards having a fresh outlook from the will-it-ever-be completed new home. This is how it was:
This is how it is becoming:
After this, when we hold an open house party, it really will be one. The doors concertina.
I rather liked the timber, but you couldn’t open those windows enough for proper airing, and the wood had been thoroughly fed upon for decades …
Do you think it is an improvement?

All the fresh light coming in sounds like your home will be an uplifting place to be. Good call!

In short, yep.
‘The doors concertina…’ Ever the musician, eh?

The only problem is that we have yet to compose the bridge passage leading to a considerably lower key! No idea how it’s going to be done, actually.

Definitely an improvement to what it originally looked like!

I’m seeing lots of window cleaning 😊 I have big windows in full sun but they don’t open, the only time they get cleaned is when my Mum visits, apparently she’s got a thing about dirty window 😳😄

A vast improvement, for sure!

I love bi-fold doors – bringing the outside in. Your house will be lovely and light after all the work.

We are so looking forward to the day in the sometime future when we can enjoy the benefit. Of course *bitterly* by that time the worst of the summer swelter will be over.

Oh, but just think how amazing it will be next summer.

Definitely an improvement Col! Love the new look! 😀

In spite of the fact that a section has now been walled in to give an area for the new bedroom door to be placed, I think the total glass area will be greater than before, and the bonus of an option of open verandah is certainly something.

Yes, it will certainly give a bigger look and that is a bonus for sure. 😀

Things are coming along nicely there I see, Col!

I think Olde Worlde has its place – someone else’s place.
Aluminium window frames ( I presume?) – best thing since sliced bread.
It’ll look smashing when its done. Cracking job.

Best quality aluminium – expensive, but well worth it. I do think it is going to look good.

First time I saw it used was on BIL’s house in Portugal. I thought immediately: That’s the way to go.

I am a window fan! I love an airy house. Well done, Col!

Only trouble is that, at this rate, by the time it is finished winter will be upon us and we won’t want airy!

I love the concertina doors/windows, a great way to bring the outdoors in, during fine weather. I did notice the larger winders over in the side wing. In twelve months time all the work will be just a memory and well worth the effort.

It will be wonderful to start reaping the benefit of all the cramped living while it has all been happening.

Yes, it’s looking much better. You’ve been a very busy bee, 🙂

We have all been busy indeed. Pity such a lot of time was wasted until we found a really top-class builder.

Absolutely. I love big windows, specially ones that slide or fold.

The big advantage of the folding ones is that the whole space can be opened. One doesn’t have to leave a closed section for the bit that has slid.
