Really Awful Hosiery

Shocking stockings

My right leg was feeling quite swell,

And giving me all kinds of hell,

Now I’ve got this shocking

Constrictive-type stocking

This dreadful uprising to quell.

Don’t blame me for showing a view

Of such awful hosiery to you;

It’s due to Ruth2Day

Demanding a display –

  2. Granny says they look ugly, but they work. She had a strained muscle once and had to wear those for a long time. At least you didn’t lost your humour, Col 😀 Hope your leg feels better soon. Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend 🙂 ❤

yowzers, that is one heck of a sock! I bet it’s as bad as pulling on those flight stockings that require a load of grunting and huffing and a lot of old heave-ho! Seriously though, I hope you feel better soon 🙂

The flight stockings are on the same lines, but amateurish by comparison!
It had better work, after all the discomfort of pulling them on and off and of just wearing one, or I shall be seriously annoyed.

Luckily the days are getting cooler now Col and in winter it will keep your legs nice and warm. I am glad to see though that your Cellulitis wasn’t blamed on a spider bite. 😉

    Feel better soon. 😀

I do hope I’ve shed the thing before I would enjoy any warming benefit!
Well, I must admit I tried to pin the crime on a spider, but they were pronounced innocent by the medical types.

I hope so too, but if not, there would be something positive in it. 😆

I am very glad to hear that there are medical types that doesn’t always blame the spider. It gives me hope. 😀

I know those stockings are tight, Col. Not that I’ve ever worn them, mind.

  11. I can imagine that for someone like yourself who wears shorts and flip-flops most of the time, this tight stocking must feel very weird. Hope it does the trick. 🙂

Do you wear it on one leg or two
My sympathies are surely with you
I tried it when my veins caused me pain
and I said i would never try it again.

your stocking is a good shade of pale
    suitable for any male
But for me , it was dark brown you see
And definitely was not good for me

So in the bin they did go
with a flick of the wrist, just so
I now use a gel, which suits me well
No elastic stocking for this fem- fatale

  15. I have to wear those, and the prescription ones act as a garotte in three places on each leg.(ankle, below and above knee) I now wear Marks and Spensers’ compression flight socks – any colour you like so long as it’s black.

    Your poem is cute.

I for some unknown reason, missed the earlier post. From the poem above, the word cellulitis came to mind. My sister had a bout of peripheral cellulitis last month, so I went back to read the missed post. Cracked skin or a bang can cause it. In my sister’s case it followed a visit to a new podiatrist/chiropodist. Thankfully an antibiotic and rest seems to have done the trick. Sending healing hugs from the northern hemisphere!

Thanks – so your guess was spot-on! In my case I think it stemmed from abrasion from a too-loose sandal of the wrap-over kind.
The antibiotic did away with the infection, but by that time the leg liked being that size.

Yes, my sister’s leg was swollen and hot particularly in the evenings. She had Osteomyelitis as a teenager and she thinks there is some connection between both conditions. Being an ex nurse, she kinda suspected what was going on before it was confirmed. Hope yours heals fast.
