MacGregor comfort zone …
For NaPoWriMo Day Twenty – prompt to write about what you know.
(Written in another blackout on laptop plus a rechargeable light.)
In climbing knoll of knowledge, one
Should always be aware,
That reaching higher ledge is done
With very special care,
To spend too much time having fun
One simply doesn’t dare,
And yet, comes to the longer run,
The progress made is … fair.
The things I know would fill a book –
Or quite a few of those –
What plants to shade good gardeners took,
And what in sunlight grows,
What flowers to tuck in sheltered nook,
Or show out in the snows,
Good planting for a balanced look,
And how rose pruning goes.
I also know a fair amount
About how one should write,
With keeping to a low word-count,
But staying up all night;
To, of all knowledge, take the fount
Of Google as the height,
But try not too much to as-tount –
Not everyone is bright.
When knowledge reaches to the stage
I no more books can fill,
I energetic’lly engage
In filling more up, still;
The way in which I fill each page
With knowledge that is nil?
My made-up stuff goes on the stage –
Imagine, if you will!
Of course, I readily admit
That all that I know not
Makes what I do know easily fit
Within one single dot –
As full stop in the infinite
Of books the world has got –
But yet, if you should think of it,
I still know quite a lot!

That was a grossly unfair reward for doing well – having to dish out pointed reminders!

No, no, no, no! When I was at school, it was a high reward to hand out the pencils!

I like poetry with a light touch. Hold on to your no-ledge !

Over my chasm of ignorance, I need more than a light touch to hold onto knowledge – a tight clutch is appropriate!

Oh how I wish I could do this… it looks as much fun to write as it is to read…

It IS fun unless – as I often do – I get a bit too ambitious!

i know that you know that I know quite a lot, but like you say it will fit on a dot.
Knowledge is the fount of wisdom so they say
But I think experience has a bigger part to play

Experience is a wonderful teacher, indeed. You step over one 1000-metre cliff, and you never do it again!
