In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Half and Half.”
Gradually it has happened that the only remaining original parts of the house we are waiting patiently to move into are the walls (most of them, anyway) and the roof. Everything that seemed as though it ‘would do’ has turned out to be a ‘won’t; don’t’! Windows, doors, ceilings and cupboards have all been replaced. Bath, basin, and toilet were removed and others put in, plus a shower. A second toilet, shower and basin have been put in en suite. I was hoping to retain the planked section of ceiling over the porch, but it became clear that it simply wasn’t going to fit in, so here is the process, half-way, of it being covered to conform with the other ceilings.
Pity. Interesting becomes bland. However, the ‘interesting’ would simply have jarred, in the current configuration.
I like the wood. Bon courage for the travaux.

The whole thing has been gutted and replaced. So far all we have been able to do is hang in there … happiness will hopefully come when we have a bit more space!

Sometimes the beautiful gets covered over with the bland. And yet. below it, we stand and live and fill the days with moments of peace and joy.

indeed, and that beautiful remains awaiting another time, another vision. Makes one think!

It is a pity, but what must be, must be.

Nothing at all would “do” in our house either. Chris is hard at work replacing everything. I think yours will look lighter and brighter with the white ceiling. How’s your foot getting along?

It will be, that.
I think the foot is responding faster than last time, thank heavens.
