Adverbs used real awful

Mr Mac is a beautiful cat and very catly! 😉

I remember my strict English teacher drilling the adage into my head, “You can find the adverb in the sentence by spotting the ‘ly’ at the end of the word, if you are quite desperate.” She loved to have us diagram sentences! I suppose that the language, like all things, changes. And we must adapt or be doomed to be labeled curmudgeonly linguistic dinosaurs. 😐

IS the cat really big or the chair really small? to repeat ruth2day’s question?
i am now going to feel queasy about the phrase rest easy

now either that kitty is very BIG, or that chair is very small. Great photo

The chair is designed for very small children or dolls, and Mac is being optimistic about his fitting capabilities. The point is, he knows that only he and the poodles will fit – and he can soon sort THEM out!

I never thought of that, a small chair! silly old me. Love it though

If that chair were full-sized, we would really have something to worry about – he would probably bully us!

The cat will lead the way, haha! Do they still teach grammar schools?

A sore point, that. Some of the communications from both the kids’ schools have made me shudder!

My maiden name is an adverb- this is one part of English grammar I have managed to not fu*k up 😉😂 I’m glad you still are blog pals with me despite the absolutely awful grammar I demonstrate lol

I don’t know about awful – colourful, sometimes, but with justification!

😊 colorful is an excellent adjective to add to the many others to describe me- as well as eccentric 😄 I’m at peace with this lol

In my case eccentric is an euphemism for – um – completely nutty. My wife says it is completely appropriate that I have some ggg-or-something-parents called Nutter!

ggg is an excellent quality in a mate- my husband is definitely ggg 😄❤️ Took me 3 times to find him lol. 3 times a charm

Well said, Col!. The SA news articles these days are positively cringeworthy. 😦 Your cat looks determined not to be too big for that seat. 🙂

Not only in SA. I’ve seen some bad slips in articles from USA and UK as well. Even the BBC!

I’m with you all the way. Bête noir: How are you? “I’m good thanks”

Sends me up the wall, too. I respond brightly, ‘Found religion?’ Usually blank incomprehension results, though.

Loved this! What a gorgeous cat you have there.

Mr Mac will be the first to agree that he is gorgeous. He demands that he be told that, daily!
