For Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge: Hands, Feet, or Paws –
When keeping a bunny in hand
Their paws quite closely one should catch,
For something one must understand:
They’re good at taking off from scratch.
‘Oh, not again!’ you hear my wails,
As awful stench my nose assails
When doggies do what doggies do,
And I get poo upon my shoe!
On my trip to Alaska I remember having to avoid moose poo which is a little more romantic than doggie poo… you could even buy souvenirs… don’t ask!

Och aye, laddie, if that is moose poo – which should be a wee thing – I dinna want tae see any from a rat!

Oh yes, I remember getting scratched by a bunny when I was but a child. I’d much rather step on a rabbit pellet than doggie doo-doo. 🙂

I think many a child has learnt that rabbits aren’t so harmless!
And, yes indeed. Added to which, our experience at one stage of potentially stepping into an Irish Wolfhound one is doubly to be avoided.

And when wrinkled noses and flopped ears take flight
best not restrain them all too tight
Lest turn they will to leave a bite.
No bad intention… just from fright.

Another cause for biting, mate –
Kid’s fingers smeared with chocolate!
(Daughter still has the scar,)

At least that was only doggy poo… When I was little, we went to a petting farm of sorts and my foot landed up in a mountain of cow poo

Good poems. Didn’t know about bunnies claws. I’ve only ever handled dead ones.

You are not, I take it, listed among the bunny-huggers. The live ones can be very lively!

Sweet picture of bunny and admirers. And I’m quite glad that picture of your unfortunate shoe was in black and white! 😉

Yes, the colour version was a bit … graphic!

what a cute bunny. We once woke to find a rabbit had taken up refuge under our shed. He came back and forth for a couple of weeks and then left. Was very sad to see him go

One bunny is OK and cute as a squatter. Two is risky – very soon one may have hundreds!

Crit editor weighing in: The first four-liner and photo are adorable. This is where the poet ought to have stopped. 😀
Hi Col. I still haven’t found the email with the attachment. Pls could you try sending it to my alternative email address(es)? 🙂

Ah, but you see very many scatter-logical people will far prefer the second.
There is no attachment; just a particularly long email. Have sent it to all available addresses already.

That bunny’s fur looks so luxurious. Those hind legs can really scrape you up – we had an Australian Rex rabbit ( so not the miniature we were promised!) once. It growled and barked like a watch dog.
Dogs do grin at thos incidents, don’t they?
