Really Awful Modesty

Uriah Heep
Was nothing but a creep –

Small croc

Those who keep a low profile can be dangerous …

The humble will
Remain invisible,
For what’s to see
In showing modesty?

Spiky fish

How not to go unnoticed – and that’s a fish, all!

If you are good,
To say so’s what you should!
Conceited man
Will get much further than
The ones who keep
Their trumpets put to sleep;

Parrot

Polly wants – you to know you’re crackers if you can’t see that he’s a yellow bird!

And even though
Their self-esteem may go
Quite well beyond
How far they can respond,
It’s better, thus,
That they should make a fuss,
Than simply shrink
To nothing people think
Is how they are
Because self-praise they bar;

Turtles

You mistake my motives – I just want to get noticed!

Their actions show?
But who is there to know
The genius part,
If folks don’t makes a start
And take a look
At latest brilliant book?
