Seems my swimming days are past:
Swam in gala, and came last!
No surprise to anyone –
First that I have ever done!!
Plus, young R, upon my back,
Did a certain slightness lack
(J, much smaller, was unwell,
Or a different tale I’d tell?)
Though of parents I was worst,
Grandpas? Only me; thus first!
R herself, though, did much more:
Second and three firsts her score –
Freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly;
Only backstroke let one by!
A few days before, there was a Gala at Durban Preparatory High School with quite a few teams visiting. R’s school didn’t do too well, but at least she swam freestyle in a ladder relay which achieved a second. Amusing that the Egyptian geese act as spectators at this school pool as well as those featured at R’s school!
Well done to you both. It sounds like an exhausting day. You’re a Super-Grandpa! Hey ……..watchya doing with my Egyptian geese? Put them on the next plane back. 😄

A day and a half! At least the grandpoply duties are getting me into new experiences galore.
The geese have fings what’re known as wings, so I’ll refrain – they don’t need a plane!

She seems to have a flair and fondness for it!
Yes, and I’ve featured them several times before, too. I see anotherday had shots of hers today.

Well done! I can only do the breast-stroke, and badly!
Coincidentally, this is the second post I’ve read in succession that features Egyptian Geese. I’ve never heard of them (although more likely never noticed them…) before today!!!

Yeh – I think I noticed that ad in p had some all the way over there in Florida – maybe she swiped some from here when she moved!
They aren’t easy not to notice!

Maybe! 😀
I’ll probably notice them eventually… I tend to miss quite a lot of things!

Well, at least I tried, which is more that most parents did!
We really were proud of her.
