Though cabinets did look all right
They had an aspect to gall sight;
Because of dark lacquer
Their presence was blacker –
But now they’re looking quite all white.

A magic will of the wrist treatment.

It took a bit more than a flap of a wand to achieve that!
No, the slat effect is from burglar bars which are such a necessary feature in our excitingly lawless land. The miscreants still break burglar bars, though, and then gather to celebrate in housebreaker pubs.

Gads, Sounds so familiar. Window bars common in some areas here, too. Not in this current location – but some builders now do not use opening windows anymore for that reason. Houses are becoming more and more defensive compound/old style haciendas – solid exterior opening into a center protected courtyard area. We seem to just be an endless loop with civilization.
Robbery/burglary is considers an appropriate career for far too many.

I think with nostalgia of childhood homes unfenced, unlocked, and often with doors open day and night. The only occasional intruders and thieves were wild creatures. (Not in the city, though.)

There is another type of cabinet which could do with a nice white spray paint job 😉

Thoughts along these lines formed the reasons for my ‘satire’ label! 🙂

Now all you need to do is spraypaint the TV screen a paler shade of white and Bingo! a full house!

That is a thought – but, no, the white would then be a bit overbearing. I’d consider doing it in the same shade as the cabinet it is standing on, except that we don’t intend to keep the cabinet … 🙂
