Two Really Awfully Nice Little Kittens

Kitten Handover to Younger Daughter at rendezvous near Pavilion Shopping Centre

Two little kittens, one sunny day,
Were taken somewhere else to stay
One had no home … and the other had none,
And that’s the way their journey’d begun …

‘We have to live,’ said the bigger cat,
‘As factory strays, what d’you think about that?’
‘Oh, NO!’ mewed out the smaller one,
‘I’m sure that kind lady’ll get something done!’

'M--m-m-m-MEW! W-where are you taking ussss?

‘M–m-m-m-MEW! W-where are you taking ussss?

And so she did, and we came to hear.
Of two little sisters, young and dear,
In need of a home, and the kids said, ‘Yay!
We’ve got some kittens now coming to stay!’

The sisters have decided whose are which (and here it is uncertain whether the decision was taken by human or cat sisters. Smaller and daintier goes to young J. Larger and more boisterous to young R. And Mr Mack treats the whole thing with splendid disdain.

So far the  settling-in’s well on the go,
Though they hissed at both Maltese in stereo,
All the rest of the dogs they don’t seem to mind,
And Mack’s quite relaxed new step-sisters to find.

  2. Small sister seems a bit put out about something. Was the kitten scratching her?

This was a happy moment, indeed – which has been followed by plenty more!
Though Younger Daughter wasn’t too entranced at having a kitten draping lovingly round her head while purring like a tractor at three a.m.!
