Let’s see what pictures I can dredge
Reflecting living on the Edge —
For starters here is one of scores
Which shows old home on southern shores;
And this one here can show it, too:
But now, from restaurant, the view;
The drop is one that quite appals
From edge while viewing Howick Falls;
Hobserve the hedge of paving ‘ere,
And that the ‘edge ‘e clipped is clear.
Which shows just ‘ow a Cockney gets
When ‘e hattempts to ‘edge ‘is bets* …
Howick falls,
Have a photo of moi in the foreground and the falls behind taken mere weeks after touching down on Jhb’s sun baked soil on a brief Road Trip to Durbs over New Year.’80

That is interesting, indeed. The surrounds of the river and falls have changed, but not for the better.

Well done, I hope you weren’t too close to the edge at Howick Falls!

It had to be the very edge, to get that shot!

Being a born and bred Cockney, as my nom de plume suggests, I wish to state quite clearly that I have never been known to ‘edge me bets!

I’m glad they attract a grin rather than a grimace!

Howick Falls is probably the first waterfall I ever saw.

An impressive one to start off with! My early ones were trickles by comparison, like Bracken Hill Falls near Knysna.
