A Do, But Don’t: Really Awful Temptation

The Silly Season has begun,
Where everyone is out for fun;
I’ve just been to a banking do
Where many slot machines one woo,
Sun Coast Casino it was at —
A place for losing money, that!
But I went out and saw the view;
No slots or tables tried to do;
 I drank the drink and ate the food,
But failed to get in gambling mood,
For gambling is all full of scams,
And gambolling’s best left to lambs.

  2. Think you need to brush up on the metre bit, when it comes to the poetry stuff, I always read your stuff out loud, (I never have an audience around to hear the hash I make of it), and I had trouble getting my tongue around this effort and making it sound right.
    But then of course I am prettty hard of hearing.😦

      You are right; this one was rushed and messy in the egg stream.
      I have polished it up a bit, and hope it will now untangle your tongue.

      • sounded better when I said ” a banking do” & “And gambolling is for sheep and lambs.”; but definitely better; (says this self styled professor of poetry😄😄😄😄 who wouldn’t have a clue, never having written a bit of verse in 82 years!🙄

          You may not write them, but you have a good feel for reading them.
          Both of your options would involve varying the metre, which is not a capital offence but something I nevertheless aimed to avoid. The latest fiddle has the best of both worlds, methinks. Thanks!
