Oh, woe is me,
Don’t get me started …
Today my G
String went and parted.
What then hung out
Was truly shocking
It waved about
Inviting mocking.
‘Twas all forlorn,
And long and stringy;
So badly worn,
That sorry thingy!
But solution
There was one plotted —
Restitution?
To get it knotted.
Tuned up tightly
The G it sounded;
Touch knot lightly …
A note well-rounded.
Past the tying
Notes were as normal,
All from trying
A fix informal!
Loved it except for ‘as’ in the second line of the last verse.
I must admit that the first two lines of your verse had me saying two different lines, (I told you I read your verse aloud)
. From an old Cockney ditty of the 1030’s/1940’s
………
………..
I paid me penny
and I only farted.
It was, of course a reference to wasting a penny in the public lavatories!

A Scotsman would be in tears about that penny.
That ‘as’ ‘as to be there or the line ‘as a hawful shortage of beats!

I was clearly thinking of another type of G-string

Reblogged this on the red ant and commented:
Have a look hair…
all up in the air
Knot the way
to play!
This G-string needs air replacement!
(and dashed if I could find a rhyme to “replacement”!) 😀

‘Which will remove the knot defacement!’
The knot is, admittedly, knot a kneat one but I was too scared to snip dangly bits lest that undo the whole thing,

😀 Yay! Thanks for completing the rhyme! Yup I wouldn’t dare to snip any dangly bits either…

Oh lol, you’ve just given this violinist a brain cramp! That is knot the way to fix a string! I’m a frayed knot! 😀

What works, works. You are just a-frayed to admit this will end the affray!
To my surprise the string is still holding up well, and although I now have a replacement I haven’t bothered to fit it!

It be a good idea to wear a faceguard while practising. When that thing snaps, it could take an i out…

Good tip. My fencing mask could come in handy for that. Or swimming goggles, at least …
