If you should seek the perfect catch —
A flame that can’t be brighter —
Consider using A Good Match,
Or, better still, one lighter.

Nice one Mr. N!
As long as it’s the wife,
Who lights up your life,
And this isn’t a game,
Instigated by an old flame?

Such flames, without the slightest doubt,
Would risk a speedy snuffing-out!

Thinking of writing poetry myself, I was wondering; Does it take long, and much effort to come up with masterpieces such as this?
or do I need to smoke pot?

Pot would probably make it effortless, and even if they weren’t masterpieces you’d think they were. Otherwise all it takes is lots of practice.

Not really into puns, but this is brilliant. That lighter is so sweet – maybe a gift from young R?

I am gratified that you still patronise my establishment, considering the heavy diet of puns I generally serve!
Actually, the lighter was a Xmas present from Much Better Half in UK.

You don’t smoke cigarettes/cigars/pipe/pot, think that covers the lot; do you?

I smoke cigarettes moderately, i.e. about 4 a day.

I smoked like a chimney from 1949/50 until September 1991, I gave it up completely one morning and haven’t stuck one in my mouth since! In
fact I can’t take the smell of a cigarette/cigar/pipe

Best I ever made, I think I’d have been dead 20 years ago had I not have given up.
