Yesterday WordPress had a fit of the sulks and refused to respond. Now, hopefully, a more co-operative mood is in evidence.
We have some visitors from UK … well, Spain, actually … who will be with us for a few weeks, and we are trying to make them memorable (the weeks, that is; the visitors already are). Several activities have already been crammed in since their arrival on Friday, and tomorrow we leave for a few days at a small game reserve in the KwaZulu Natal Midlands with the unlikely name of Tillietudlem.
Included in yesterday’s activities were:
our local fleamarket in the valley, and
… a light supper in a restaurant …
… overlooking our local beach.
Today we started with a trip up to Giba Gorge. There, the male half of our visiting couple, also in his seventies but you’d never guess it, joined me on an outride …
… of some variety, and with horses having no bits in their mouths, of which a lot more in posts to come …
… and with pleasant scenery …
… until we reached a lovely little waterfall (yes, the ‘falls’ of my Title).
Lunch at Marianhill Monastery …
With the sweet course overlooking Valley of 1000 Hills …
… where piglets, goats, rabbits, poultry and three of these venerable specimens were there to entertain us …
… until finally we looped to the Kloof Gorge Viewsite as a finale.
It may be that even if the most fascinating scenes are seen in the next few days, I won’t be able to share them until we get back.

Some really good photos today; th chips look delicious, (one thing I’ve never been able to cook successfully) but I couldn’t make out what it was covered in gravy.
I know it wasn’t corn, that was supplied by you and Rip!

The chips were good indeed, and that sizeable chunk of food on the plate is a hock of ham.

Glad that my anxiety over “falls from horses” proved ungrounded. Goodness, you certainly put us through the mill!
Anyway, looking forward to a bit more about no bits — unless you decide you’ve bitten off more than you can chew …

I couldn’t resist that wording.
The bitless bit is something all riders should work toward. It works amazingly.

Frying them would have been a heavy responsibility!
