New Front Matter for Tabika

While reformatting my earlier novels Tabika and Tabika Book Two for the forthcoming new editions, I had an impulse to set the tone of Book Two with a new rhyme.  I think it works quite well,  and Tabitha, lying on my desk until we go to bed, said, ‘Urrr!’ in response to hearing it read. What do you think?

The Ballad of Tabika

Tabika, Tabika, makes ‘nerveys’ a Greek, — a

Bee fairy can fix all of that —

Tabika, Tabika, no cat could be sleeker,

A cat with a chat that’s off pat,

Tabika, Tabika, a home- and thrill- seeker

Who’s wanting to live on the farm,

Tabika, Tabika, who’s not mild nor meeker

When anyone tries to do harm,

Tabika, Tabika, with friend with a beak, a

Great owl hooo adores a big word,

Tabika, Tabika, ‘Old Horrible’ freak-er,

With riding exploits quite absurd,

Tabika, Tabika, protecting the weaker,

From boredom he offers relief,

Tabika, Tabika, an in-ter-est pique-er

Who always invites disbelief!
