In a Spin and Abandoned

This morning when I got up the girls were trying out the alternative swing which I rigged so that the two ‘normal’ ones are simply hooked to one side and the trampoline-like one is clipped on in their place.

Squeals and shrieks of delight come with twisting it to quite a height, and then letting it unwind as seen here. The final stage of the untwist provides a mighty jerk and peals of mirth.

Then I had to drive the three to the airport for them to fly to Cape Town. A week is being spent there visiting the other grandmother and cousins. We and the five dogs and five cats can now get up to all the mischief we like. (Actually, we all miss them already.)

We spent a couple of hours at the fleamarket on the way back, and then we watched the badly-acted comedy show provided by the African National Congress conference. There was a lot of singing and dancing, all dreadfully executed. Imagine leaving the running of a country to a gang who is proud of a custom of being unpunctual (true to form, the conference kicked off seven hours late with bitter bickering still happening regarding accreditation). President Zuma tried to talk himself into a graceful exit as Chairman. He failed. His solution for all the problems South Africa is suffering from is to give a free university education to the needy. How this is going to be paid for, and with the current standard of teaching and learning how it will help, are left to the imagination.

We used and admired the new handrail, and then I refitted the curtain rail to make it skew so that it and the curtain looks straight. (Actually, the house is what is skew.)

The cats and dogs then gave us a merry dance to round up. I was really worried about M but it turned out she had been locked into the garden shed. Not a peep out of her to let us know.

  1. Love the swing. , sorry about the poor little trapped dog, on the other hand, garden sheds are great places to escape to for a little bit of peace, or so my late hubby told me!

M is my special cat, or at least she has adopted me as her special human. She is not backward in coming forward on the vocal department when hungry, so I am a bit concerned to find that she doesn’t do the same when lockup up or trapped somewhere. Mind you, come to think of it, she didn’t look perturbed. I was the one having the cadenza!
