- Fruit Chew in Hand
- Fuchsia in Hand
Headmaster to school leavers
wrapped sweets for each will give,
Before his lecture on how
their lives they all should live.
This is done so all of them
there fully understands,
‘Remember that the fruit-chew
is resting in your hands!’
Or else, he’ll ask the girlies
A flower there to hold;
‘In your hands lies the fuchsia!’
Is what they all are told.
(A quite cheerful note
one can add to the plot —
they can’t make a worse mess
than that which we have got!)
Now that’s the sort of poetry I can take, bit of fun, not some poor bugger dying of a broken heart. cos his mate ran off with the milkmans daughter
