Disgusting Barbarism at Clifton Beach

Slaughter on Beach

The recent descent into ignorant savagery by a group of protestors at Cape Town’s Clifton Beach must be condemned in strongest terms of disgust and outrage.

It is still unclear what circumstances caused PPA Security Company to remove people from the beach on Sunday evening a week ago, but there seems flimsy or no evidence that it was racially motivated, as various groups practising self-interest are so quick to label almost any action these days. Judging by unruly and filthy behaviour observed on some Durban beaches, the removal may well have been justified. Be that as it may, the subsequent action by a group of misguided and reprehensible individuals of slaughtering a sheep on the sands of the beach by way of protest or as ‘cleansing’ cannot in any way be justified. Every member complicit should have been subjected to the full processes of the law, with heavy penalties imposed.

Outdated superstitions rooted in ignorance, under the misnomer of ‘culture’, cannot be allowed to act as justification for any group or any race whatsoever to indulge in behaviour that is inhumane and lacking in all consideration for other users. Occurrences of this nature make one deeply ashamed to be South African.

I can’t imagine how it must feel, and be, for somebody like you, to live amongst such ignorance,

Sadly, there are so many humans who find it easier to destroy than to create. 😦

    Utterly revolting.
But then, you know I think the slaughter of animals for whatever reason is reprehensible.
